Sharon Posch

Hi, my name is Sharon Posch.  I am a second grade teacher here at Cold Spring Elementary.  I did my undergraduate work at St. Cloud State University and my graduate studies at St. Mary’s University.   This will be my 18th year at CSE.

I have been teaching second grade for the past 14 years.  Prior to that, I taught a 4th/5th multi-age class for one year.  During my first two years at CSE, I taught a 3rd/4th multi-age class.

I am married to Frank Posch.  We had our 10 year wedding anniversary this past June.  He is an electrician for Augusta Electric.  We have three beautiful girls.  Our oldest, Bethany, will be a first grader this year.  She spent her summer learning how to swim.  She also tried out her acting skills in the mini-play Charlotte’s Web.  We also have twin girls, Raylynn and Rebecca, who are four years old.  They also took swimming lessons this summer.  They are excited to be starting preschool this school year.   In my free time, what little there is these days, I like to read, bake, and spend time getting great ideas on Pinterest.  Most of my time is spent with my girls, doing girly things.

I am looking forward to another great school year.  I can’t wait to get to know all of the second graders.  We will start each day with a morning meeting in which we will get to know each other better and play some fun games.  We will use the Responsive Classroom approach.  We will spend time each day working on reading skills using the five components of Daily Five: Read to Self, Listen to Reading, Read to Someone, Word Work, and Work on Writing.  Students will work hard this year to master addition and subtraction facts.  Students who master both of these will even get a chance to work on multiplication.  Our math time will include lots of hands-on activities and math games.  Learning is so much more fun when playing games!

Be sure to mark August 28 on your calendar for Open House.  Stop by the school anytime between 6:00 and 7:30.  Students will have a chance to check out the classroom, see where they sit, find their locker, and so much more!  Any supplies that you have for the school year can be brought to school that evening.  Be sure to label all of your supplies.  I am looking forward to meeting everyone and to a great educational journey together this year!  Enjoy the last few weeks of summer.  It’s going fast!
