I am originally from Menomonie, Wisconsin. I received me undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in Public Relations. I attended the College of Saint Benedict to obtain my teaching license and completed my Masters through St Mary’s University-Winona. I love teaching children to read and had the opportunity to expand my skills and knowledge in this area through a reading certification program at St. Cloud State University.
I have been teaching for 19 years, almost all of them at Cold Spring Elementary. This will be my fifth year in kindergarten. I have also taught 5th and 2nd grade. I love kindergarten! The growth during this year is phenomenal. It is so exciting to be a part of children’s earliest steps in reading. I do get my “big kid fix” by coaching elementary knowledge bowl for ROCORI’s 5th and 6th graders.
My family keeps me busy. My husband Tadd and I have four children. Matthew will be completing his final year at SCSU, majoring in nursing. Adam is a senior at ROCORI High School and he is very active in theater. Hannah will be in 7th grade at ROCORI Middle School. Gracie will be a second grader at Cold Spring Elementary. Both Hannah and Gracie keep us busy with their involvement in dance. I love music and work on the side coordinating the music and liturgy for a church in St. Cloud. This includes directing a few choirs. When I have time, I like to write music and I also enjoy making jewelry. This past summer, I had the opportunity to travel with a group of teachers to Brazil to learn more about their educational system and to do a little sight-seeing. It was an incredible experience.
There is one word to describe kindergarten—FUN! There is so much to look forward to! We will bake a gingerbread man (hopefully he doesn’t run away!), celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday, take a field trip to a farm, learn about the world through a young boy named Flat Stanley and much more! We will work and play and just have fun together!
