Derek Sauer

Hi this is Derek Sauer! Welcome to my classroom. This is my 5th Year at ROCORI Schools and I am excited to start the 2017-18 School Year. I was born in St. Cloud, MN and grew up in Sauk Rapids, MN graduating in 2008. I attended Saint Cloud State University and graduated with a Social Studies Education Degree (Geography). I Student taught in Sauk Rapids, Zimmerman and then my full semester in Rogers, MN.

Here at ROCORI Schools I have taught various classes ranging from High School to Middle School and even ALC. Some of the classes I have taught since I started at ROCORI Schools: High School ALC English and History, US History for 10th Graders, 9th Grade STEP, Genocide of the Modern World, Ancient History (HS and MS), MN Studies (10,000 Topics MS), Geographic Wonders of the World and MS History and Global Studies. I coach Middle School Football (Volunteer with Varsity when I can) and Basketball while also coaching on the  HS Varsity Baseball Staff as an Assistant Coach. This will be my 3rd Year with the RTI (Response to Intervention) committee going over student progress and data. My room is on the 2nd Floor of the D (Middle School) Hallway, D201. I am located right across the hallway from Mr. Austad who is the lead for US History for 7th Graders.

This year we will be studying everything from Native American History to Tectonic Plate Activity. Hopefully, in my classroom, your child will learn some of the essential tools to become an informed citizen and curious investigator of our past, present and future! The following website (TBD) will help you gain access to classroom tools, resources and information.

Thanks for taking the time to read about who I am and how my Social Studies classroom operates, have a great 2017-18 School Year and always continue to laugh and learn!
