ART isn't easy. ART is fun. ART is used everyday, every way. From the design of the furniture we use, the design of our cars, the colors of our rooms, our homes, the color of our food to the way we see things. All comes back to ART and how we use our creativity. It is my job to move you to creative thinking and the creative processes. This "creative thinking" is applicable in all academics, but most of all in our art world.
I require sketchbooks in INTRO. TO ART, GRAPHICS, JEWELRY, PAINTING, AND CERAMICS. These are made during the 1st week of the term during class. Sketchbook assignments are always posted in the room and will be under "classroom announcements" on this web sight.
The lab fee that is required in all ART ELECTIVES is $20. You may pay thru PAYPALS or by check in the administrative office. Please show me the receipt so I can add two points to the student's grade. The lab fee pays for the materials used in the classroom. Periodically we receive notices of who has paid . I will check the PAYPALS sight periodically, not every week to see who has paid their fee.
If a student is gone from class they are expected to make up the work missed. Students' can work ahead on assignments or take them home with them. One or more of the ART rooms is open at 7:15am. Students may come in and use as a studio to get their work done. I may or may not be available to assist them due to other classroom or teaching duties such as meetings, course prep work and such. It is best if a student needs my help to alert me to it in class prior so that I can put aside time for them in the morning or after school. I ask that students do not come to me 5 minutes before the class and ask "what did I miss?". If this happens I will not address their question until after I give instructions, or demonstration, or lecture.
Contacting me via e-mail or phone works well. I try to address messages as soon as I can. Usually this is done before or after school, not during the school day unless it is during my prep time.
I expect the students participating in ART to be respectful of the equipment, materials and of their peers and myself while in the ART classroom. DISRESPECT is not acceptable at all.
The success of students in ART is their approach to their artwork they are creating. I look for effort, attitude and creative thinking along with the process of creativity itself.
EARTH without ART is just EH!
